Energy efficiency grants available to Spondon businesses

Derby City Council's Climate Change and Energy Management Unit are offering grants to local businesses to help them improve their energy efficiency, save money and cut their carbon footprint.

The scheme, called the Small Businesses Energy Efficiency Grants Scheme, has been running since May 2010 and the Unit are keen to increase the uptake of grants.

The scheme offers grants of up to £5,000 per small business to help make energy efficiency improvements to their premises or replace old and inefficient equipment. Common improvement work includes cavity or solid wall and loft insulation, energy efficient lighting, new A-rated boilers and insulated roller shutter doors.

The scheme will run until 31 March 2011 and the Unit are keen to commit as much funding as possible before winter sets in so that businesses can start enjoying the energy savings.
